Daadras Launches Ramadan Ration Drive, Begins Distributions

As the holy month of Ramadan began, the Daadras Foundation launched a dedicated ration fundraiser on March 25, 2023, with an initial target of Rs 75,000 to provide food packages to low-income families across Lahore.

Ramadan is a time of heightened need for Pakistan's most vulnerable households. For families already struggling to afford daily meals, providing Suhoor and Iftar every day of the month is an added burden.

Donors responded immediately. Rs 40,000 was collected within the first days of the appeal, prompting Daadras to raise its target. By March 27, the fourth day of Ramadan, six ration bags had been distributed and Rs 15,000 in direct cash assistance had been given to four families.

Each ration bag was assembled to provide nutritious and culturally appropriate food for the month, containing flour, rice, lentils, ghee, sugar, salt, spices, and dates, which are traditionally eaten to break the fast at Iftar. Each package cost approximately Rs 3,400.

Daadras also contributed approximately 25 boxes to the ESR Against Hunger Iftar drive, extending its reach through a partner organisation.
